Dr. Fiona Seibold is a theoretical physicist, currently senior scientific collaborator and SNSF Ambizione Fellow at EPFL, Switzerland. She is working on string theory (can we obtain a quantum theory of gravity?), integrable models (what makes a theory solvable?) and the holographic principle (is gravity encoded in a lower-dimensional field theory?). After obtaining her PhD from ETH Zürich in 2020, together with the ETH Medal and the SwissMAP Innovator Prize, she joined Imperial College London supported by an SNSF Early Postdoc Mobility fellowship and later a Marie Sklodowska Curie fellowship, before holding research positions at DESY and EPFL. She also has a leadership role in the European “Fundamental Challenges in Theoretical Physics” network. Besides work, she enjoys playing tennis, running and hiking, and occasionally plays the trumpet.
